The Alaverdi Rkatsiteli 2011 is produced in the Alaverdi Monastery winery. The wine is made from Rkatsiteli – an autochthonous Georgian grape variety, which is the pride and foundation of Georgian winemaking. The main region of its cultivation is Kakheti, where it accounts for more than 2/3 of all plantings of grapes. White wines from this variety are produced both by the Kakheti and the European technology. Kakheti Rkatsiteli wines are especially attractive with their bright and deep color, their unctuousness and pleasant astringency.
Alaverdi Monastery Rkatsiteli flickers in a fascinating amber color with a golden sheen. The aroma envelops with notes of fresh herbs and flowers, changing to nuances of ripe fruit and spices. Everything in it is verified, moderate and dignified, as befits a heavens given drink. Note the subtle sweet notes on the palate with a nutty flavor and a soft long aftertaste. The taste of Alaverdi Rkatsiteli is something that is difficult to even classify. God’s assistance is clearly needed here.
